Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The fish and chips at St. John’s are the stars of the show. Diners rave about the freshness of the fish, particularly the cod and haddock, which are always crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. People love the classic curry sauce, known for its slightly sweet twist that complements the chips perfectly. The friendly staff adds to the charm, creating a welcoming environment that encourages frequent visits. Many consider the reasonable prices and wide selection of items a huge plus, making it accessible for both families and individuals on a budget.

Most Disliked

While most experiences are great, some diners mention the 10-minute wait time due to fresh cooking. For those rushing, this might feel a bit long, although many agree it's worth it for the quality. A few reviews suggest that during peak hours, the seating might get a bit crowded, which can make dining in less than comfortable. There have also been minor complaints regarding the occasional lack of specific menu items, although it is often attributed to high demand.

I am so incredibly impressed. This place serves the best food in Norwich, hands down, and they offer the full chippy experience! The fish—whether you choose the Haddock, Cod, or Rock—is perfection: crispy, wonderfully crunchy batter, and the fish inside is incredibly moist and flaky. The chips were fantastic, and their curry sauce is delicious with a delightful hint of sweetness. But they nail all the other classics too! If you're looking beyond fish, they offer sausage, saveloy, chicken nuggets, burgers, and pies (etc.)—everything you want from a great chip shop. By the way the fish bites are so flaky and crunchy. 😋😋😋.too. A 10-minute wait is required because the staff cook everything fresh to order, and it is absolutely worth every minute. Fantastic food and incredibly friendly service. What a wonderful meal! Too you all that work there many thanks to all the delicious meals I have here. Yummy. Yummy.

Excellent fish and chips! This is our new go to place for fish and chips which are well cooked and not greasy like some. It's also probably the cleanest chip shop I have ever seen. Can't recommend highly enough.
